Hurricanes' Hall of Fame broadcaster, Kevin Weekes, earns praise for "perfect" interview

Weekes shares emotional moment between father, son after Stanley Cup win

Carolina Hurricanes television analyst Kevin Weekes, who was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame this summer, was praised for his "perfect" interview with Hurricanes forward Andrei Svechnikov after the team's Stanley Cup victory in June.

In the interview, Weekes asked Svechnikov about the moment he realized the Hurricanes had won the Stanley Cup. Svechnikov's father, Igor, was standing next to him, and the two shared an emotional embrace. Weekes' voice cracked as he asked Svechnikov how it felt to share that moment with his father.

"It was perfect," one fan wrote on Twitter. "Weekes knew exactly what to say and how to ask it. He let Svechnikov tell his story, and it was a beautiful moment."

Another fan wrote, "Weekes is a class act. He's always prepared and respectful, and he knows how to get the most out of his interviews. He's a credit to the Hurricanes and the NHL."

Weekes has been with the Hurricanes since 2019, and he has quickly become a fan favorite. He is known for his insightful commentary and his ability to connect with players and fans.

Weekes' interview with Svechnikov was just one example of his ability to capture the human side of sports. He is a true professional, and he is a valuable asset to the Hurricanes organization.

The Hurricanes will begin their Stanley Cup defense on Oct. 12 against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
